Betrayal is present in all areas of life. We tend to think that it mostly relates to relationships between spouses or friends. This is not the case; betrayal is simply a breach of contract. The contract can be implied. It can be a set of rules or values accepted by members of a specific group. Examples are a marriage contract (values accepted by a couple), a friendship contract (a set of rules and values as understood in friendship), a coworker contract (a set of accepted behaviors and interactions), or a parent-child contract (as required by law but also as required by a particular family), or many other types of contractual relationships.

A contractual relationship is based on a set of values. These values have their own energy, just like the entire being has energy. Part of the contractual agreement is trust and reliance. When a contract is breached, trust and reliance are broken, and instead, there is another negative value created. This negative value creates negative energy attachments.

This breach of trust and negative energy attachments are the reason for feeling angry, betrayed, hurt, disappointed, and a variety of other feelings. All those feelings create more negative energy attachments. As a result, we start dwelling more and more on what happened (and can begin drowning in negativity). It is important to realize that those feelings are caused by the fact that something was taken away from us without our permission; our energy was stolen from us. The contract was breached; we didn’t come to a mutual agreement to end the contract.

Betrayal is a direct cause of a psychic attack. When a psychic attack occurs, we feel drained, our hands shake, and our stress level jumps up. For people with CPTSD, betrayal can be a trigger that causes flashbacks and dissociation. Stress hormone levels go up, we don’t understand what is going on, how to help ourselves, and how to regain control over that particular section of our life.
